El Zurdo
The mill, El Zurdo sleeps 4-6 people and is situated in an outstanding valley in the Parque Natural of the Sierra de Grazalema, Andalucia, Southern Spain.It is in a secluded rural position at an altitude of 600m private and separate from the nearest neighbour El Pastor
The accommodation is simple and typical of farmhouses and mills in the area; not much has changed from 50 years ago when they were worked and lived in.We have installed what we consider to be the basic necessities (electricity, running water, flushing loos, showers, refrigerators, cookers) but have tried not to let them spoil the very special Spanish character.
To reach the mill, you first follow a short bumpy track into the parking area. You then cross the river over a small bridge and walk down the path to the house.
You enter the sitting/dinning room and two steps up take you into the millroom where you will find the grinding wheels and crane gantry. The latter was used to replace worn stones, which were then used for flooring.
The kitchen is a step down, which is equipped with refrigerator, cooker, breakfast table, worktops and double sink
There are two bedrooms upstairs, each containing a double and a single bed. The shower room and toilet are outside across the patio. From there a path takes you to the river (which powered the mill), where a waterfall has created a natural plunge pool.
